Well, I meant to send this out a couple weeks ago, but I never finished it up. We're at week 16 now and going for our next appointment in 2 weeks!
Happy New Year! As most of you know by now, Greg and I revealed the big news over Christmas that we're expecting a baby in July! It's finally hit us that it's really happening.
The first trimester flew by, and thankfully, it was pretty easy. I had a little morning sickness that would hit around dinner time, but I would just eat a little and go to bed and forget about it. I'm finally past the first trimester at 14 weeks, and I'm getting my energy back.
We have not had a sonogram yet, so I really wanted to start this post when I had a picture to show you, but our doctor said they usually don't do a lot of them if all signs point to a healthy baby because insurance companies don't pay for all of them. Bummer! I want my picture, but we will get that at the next appointment and hopefully find out the sex of the baby!
So, here we are at week 14. I'm the same weight as when we started (thanks to our treadmill purchase, I'm sure), but you can start to see a little baby bump.
We had an appointment yesterday and heard the heart beat. It was beating so fast! It was such a comforting sound.
At week 14, the baby is about the size of a lemon extending 3 1/2" long. It can squint, frown, pee, and possibly suck his or hers thumb. The body of the baby is growing, so when we do get that sonogram, it will actually look like the form of a baby. His head is sitting on top of his spine more, and his arms have caught up to the body and are proportional, but his legs still have some lengthening to do. His internal organs continue to develop this week as well. I have a hard time not calling the baby a "he", can you tell?
So, I'm going to hopefully finish up some projects around the house in this next month so we can start planning more for the baby once we know the sex. Have a good week!
